PROJECT BRIEF :
This 4,456 sq.ft. home is a story of transformation where timeless elegance meets modern design. Crafted by Ar. Manan Hans of Manan Hans Design Group, the residence breathes new life into an old structure. With a mix of soft tones, rich textures, and carefully planned spaces, the home now feels brighter, fresher, and more alive. Set within the framework of an existing structure, the project redefines an aging home into a canvas of modern elegance one where every corner, every ceiling, and every wall carries the imprint of thoughtful design and a family’s evolving dreams.
DESIGN CHALLENGES
Renovating an old house always comes with its own set of challenges but it also offers a unique opportunity to create something fresh while preserving the original character of the home. In this project, we took on the complete renovation of the house, including both the Ground Floor and the First Floor. Every element from the exterior façade to the interior spaces was thoughtfully redesigned and updated, while the existing structural framework was retained due to site limitations.

THE CONCEPT & LAYOUT TRANSFORMATION
With major structural changes off the table, the focus shifted to reimagining the home with smarter, more elegant solutions. Our concept was clear  to make each room feel more functional, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed, without disturbing the soul of the existing structure.

Between two bedrooms, we carefully carved out a well-planned dressing area and a larger, more indulgent washroom, bringing a new level of comfort and practicality to the layout.
Each bedroom was stripped down to its core and rebuilt with new ceilings, fresh bespoke furniture, and distinct design themes — blending functionality with refined aesthetics, and fulfilling the client’s vision of having four uniquely styled personal spaces under one roof.

FOUR BEDROOMS , FOUR DISTINCT STORIES
Each of the four bedrooms was designed with a different theme, giving every space its own mood and character. Two rooms feature elegant shades of grey for a modern, sleek feel, while the other two use soft beige tones to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere.
Every bedroom has a custom false ceiling designed to match its style, with features like cove lighting and unique patterns. The bedbacks were also crafted differently for each room, using a variety of fabric finishes and designs to suit different needs — making every bedroom not just look unique, but feel different in how it’s used and experienced.

THE HEART OF THE HOME : DINNING & DOUBLE HEIGHT FEATURE
At the heart of the home sits the dining area a key space where we created a striking double-height design. The main feature wall, done entirely in P.O.P., stretches from the ground floor up to the first floor, giving the space a grand, open feel.

To add depth and interest, we introduced grooves at both ends and in the center, with subtle level differences that create a layered effect. Randomly placed golden metal strips run through the grooves, bringing a playful yet elegant touch to the wall design.

A luxurious chandelier hangs at the center, casting a warm glow over the dining space, while cove lighting along the corners highlights the architectural details — making the entire area feel expansive yet cozy and inviting.
DRAWING ROOM : CLASSICAL CHARM WITH CONTEMPORARY FLAIR
The drawing room, also known as the guest lounge, exudes a modern classical charm. The ceiling features a subtle design, adding a touch of sophistication to the space. The back wall is kept simple yet elegant, with a classic touch and wall lights that highlight its beauty. In the center, a custom CNC cut design adds a unique, subtle pattern, enhancing the overall aesthetic.

The TV wall is minimal, finished with a Marble matt laminate and paired with decor shelves. Marble-top furniture accents balance the space beautifully. Soft fabric sofas anchor the room, while an open layout ensures a smooth flow, connecting all the common areas together.

CREATING OPENNESS : METAL & WOOD PARTITION
Instead of using solid doors, we introduced a custom metal structure with a touch of veneer, creating a linear partition that adds both style and function. The open spaces within the design allow for decorative elements, enhancing the overall value of the space.
This partition serves not only as a functional divider between the drawing and dining areas but also acts as a decor wall, playing an important role in defining the space while maintaining an open feel. Additionally, it provides a subtle partition for the staircase area, offering privacy for those coming from the upper floors without closing off the space.

MANDIR
The mandir was completely redesigned to give it a fresh yet spiritual feel. A new ceiling was added, along with a custom CNC-cut panel featuring circular patterns and bell motifs that beautifully complement the divine theme. To enhance the detailing, we also included a handcrafted CNC-cut lotus, carefully painted to match the space. This thoughtful design turned the mandir into a peaceful and eye-catching focal point of the home.

THE KITCHEN
The kitchen, which was previously small, has been transformed into a modern masterpiece. To create more space, we made the only major structural change by expanding the area and installing a new modular kitchen. The design features a matte acrylic finish in a soft, muted tone, paired with a sleek flat ceiling and integrated profile lighting. The result is a space that feels both subtle and sophisticated, blending seamlessly with the rest of the home’s interiors.

SMART DESIGN SOLUTIONSÂ
One of the major design challenges we faced was in a bedroom on the first floor, where the placement of a door next to the TV wall disrupted the room’s symmetry. Instead of shifting the TV to one side, we decided to keep it in its original spot and solve the issue by creating hidden, camouflage doors that blend seamlessly into the wall. The result is a clean, minimalist look that enhances the modern feel of the room, while ensuring the door no longer affects the entrance, even with the large TV positioned close by.

GROUND FLOOR : CHALLENGES WITH CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
In the third room, we encountered the same issue, where the door was positioned alongside the TV panel. However, this time the client also needed a dressing area and didn’t want to sacrifice wardrobe space. The solution? We integrated a sleek sliding mirror within the TV panel. This mirror can be pulled out when needed, offering a practical, space-saving solution.
Not only does it maximize the limited space, but it also maintains the room’s clean and functional aesthetic. This clever design choice turned out to be both practical and visually appealing, enhancing the room’s overall layout.

OUTCOME
In the end, this home shows how creative design and careful attention to detail can completely transform an old space. By blending modern ideas with personal touches, we not only met but surpassed the client’s expectations. It’s a true makeover story, turning a tired home into a timeless one.
